The decoration of the castle of Luton Hoo : Georges Hoentschel was entrusted with a very large commission doing the interior of the country house at Luton Hoo. He designed an original look for the house interior in a modernised version of 18th century style that appealed to the taste of the period. It should be noted that he had previously redecorated the London residence of Julius Wernher. Up until the property was destroyed by bombing in the Second World War, the house set off to advantage the collections of 18th century French furniture and English portraits belonging to this man, who had made his fortune from diamond mines.
