Le pavillon des Muses – Neuilly : Robert de Montesquiou, the colourful dandy who was the inspiration for the character of Charlus in Marcel Proust’s « A la recherche du temps perdu » commissioned him to decorate and furnish his mansion in Neuilly. Georges Hoentschel was to provide the decor and furnishings for the parties given by the Comte on several occasions. Their friendship remained unchanged until the death of the designer, showing the extent to which he was appreciated by the Comte, who was famously difficult and demanding.
