Le décorateur - l'apprentissage - Maison Leys - Georges Hoentschel

Apprenticeship – Maison Leys

Apprenticeship – Maison Leys: with his uncle Robert Leys, Georges Hoentschel ran an important design workshop, Cité du Retiro in Paris. He inherited it in 1892 together with the 50 workers in the studio-workshops. During the 1880s his know-how and certain taste placed him amongst the most influential figures in the world of decorative arts. Georges Hoentschel became an interior designer and lead contractor in response to demands from his clients, due to his eclectic knowledge and know-how.  His fine judgement allowed him to spot the most beautiful works of art.
