Architect – interior designer – assembler for 35 years, Georges Hoentschel (1855-1915) worked at the turn of the century, for all informed Parisians, as well as clients abroad, like the King of Greece and the Emperor of Japan. Endowed with a sure eye, he was a major collector who put together an eclectic ensemble, part of which can be viewed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and elsewhere in museums around the world.
